Pharmaceutical applications of RFID are increasing in number as the need for verifying and identifying product has become more important due to competition and counterfeiting.
Escort Memory Systems has a history of working with pharmaceutical companies and Pharmaceutical OEMs to integrate RFID systems into processing, filling and packaging applications. The result- improving the efficiency of work in progress filling and verifying that all items ordered are correct, and delivered on time.
Tags are embedded in pucks carrying bottles. Each passes the first programming station, and is written to with an order number and fill recipe.
Bottles travel down high speed conveyer lines. At each fill station on the conveyer, the tag is read by controller/antennas installed under or along side the conveyer. The appropriate station according to the fill recipe, the bottles stop, and the controller/antenna instructs the station to release the drugs. The tag is then written to with fill information, and validated at a later Q&A station where the fill recipe is set against the fill record improving the efficiency of receiving product and verifying that all items ordered are delivered on time.
Case Studies:
The HF-0405 features a compact design with an integrated antenna and the ability to read multiple tag protocols operating at 13.56MHz.
